SIWES Guidelines & Requirements
Everything you need to know about participating in the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme.
Eligibility Requirements
To participate in SIWES, students must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a registered student in an accredited Nigerian tertiary institution
- Enrolled in a program that requires industrial training (Engineering, Technology, Applied Sciences, etc.)
- Must have completed at least two years of academic work (200-level minimum)
- Good academic standing with minimum CGPA as specified by your institution
- Must be certified fit for industrial work by the institution's health center
Training Duration
6 Months Program
Standard duration for most programs. Students complete a minimum of 24 weeks of industrial training.
12 Months Program
Extended program for specific courses requiring longer practical exposure (typically Engineering programs).
Registration Process
Create Account
Register on the SIWES Portal with your valid email address and personal information.
Complete Application
Fill in your academic details, institution information, and upload required documents.
Make Payment
Pay the required SIWES registration fee through the secure payment gateway.
Get Placement
Browse available placements or receive automatic matching based on your profile.
Begin Training
Start your industrial training and maintain your digital logbook throughout the program.

Important Notes
- •Students must maintain a logbook throughout the training period and submit it for assessment
- •Regular supervision visits will be conducted by both academic and industrial supervisors
- •Completion of SIWES is mandatory for graduation in affected programs
- •Students are expected to adhere to all company policies and professional conduct standards
